| Summer
2005
This
summer has been a hot one, and Baltimore is sizzling with
new venues for entertainment, dining, and tourism...
Before
we can start our adventure, discovering these new venues,
we have to find parking. Never fear! Pier
5 Parking Garage is near! Conveniently
located at the end of Eastern Avenue on Pier 5, this parking
garage, recently constructed by the Cordish
Company, will
keep you close to all the action Baltimore's Inner Harbor
has to offer.

We
enjoy the small walk over a few pedestrian
bridges towards the National
Aquarium. The ticket stand is easy
to locate and soon we flow inside to enjoy the many aquatic
attractions. Our main interest is the newly updated Animal
Australia Planet Exhibit. After that we try to catch
a Dolphin show, but learn they are cancelled - because
a dolphin
has been born! The Dolphin shows have been temporarily
discontinued and the amphitheater is closed to provide
a quiet environment for Nani and her calf.
"The National Aquarium in Baltimore
seeks to stimulate interest in, develop knowledge about,
and inspire stewardship of aquatic environments." -

Once
out of the Aquarium, we realize that we're
hungry. Thankfully we’re
not far from Baltimore’s Power Plant Live!,
a perfect respite for the entertainment loving travelers
that we are. We take a stroll down Restaurant Row, featuring
outdoor seating for the fine restaurants located along the
walkway. We can enjoy 'Fresh Asian Eats' at Blu Bambu,
watch the latest rock fest at Rams Head Live!,
or sit back with an ice cold beer at The
Lodge. After we get our fill, we can either head
over to MAP: Maryland
Art Place or Passport:
Discovery Voyage.
Maybe we'll do all of the above!

After
a night of fun we're in the mood for a nice quiet
stroll down in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. We can see lights
from the ships in the docks and out on the Bay, including
lights perched above our heads denoting different eatery
sites: the Pratt Street Pavilion
and Light Street Pavilion.
We
decide to top off our day long adventure with a Water
Taxi ride back to Pier 5. As the lights of the inner harbor
dissipate into the distance, glowing lights from the Pier
5 Hotel beckon us to stay a little longer within Baltimore's
welcome.
"Plush velvet couches. Dazzling, jewel-toned walls. Magnificent waterfront
views. Is this Baltimore, Maryland or Southern California?
This is the Pier 5 Hotel, Baltimore's only waterfront boutique
hotel." We
book our rooms and head off to sleep, dreaming about out
next sightseeing adventure 'on the road with GableSigns'.
