This
month we head south to Washington, DC for a tour around our
Nation's Capital and a quick bite to eat. With Capitol Hill security
causing bus detours and delays, we decide to use Washington's Metrorail.
After going online to WMATA.com to
find out what line to use to get to our destination, we head off to
our Nation's Capitol. First, a transfer from the Red Line to the Green
Line at the Fort Totten station, then a hop off at our stop - Mt. Vernon
Square 7th Street Convention Center. A quick jog up to street
level and we're there. Considering the beltway and security traffic
delays, along with downtown parking prices, you can't beat the value
of a safe, quite, and comfortable Metrorail ride for only $2.35!
Using your cell
phone, you can subscribe to Metrorail
eAlerts, WMATA's electronic system to notify customers
of service disruptions!
Finding
our way around the DC Convention Center is easy. After
emerging from our underground transportation hub, we head
off through the Convention Center towards the newly completed Wolfgang
Puck Express. The wayfinding package installed at
the DC Convention Center is
as easily recognizable as it is easy to use. "Our
sparkling new 2.3 million square foot
convention center is now open for business. Located in
the heart of the nation's capital, we're steps from historic
museums, great restaurants and wonderful attractions." www.dcconvention.com
Live,
Love, Eat! is the title of Puck's newest cookbook,
and that is what we intend to do as we make our selection
from the elaborate lunch menu. "Wolfgang
Puck Express is the most exciting, enduring concept
in fast casual dining today! Featuring the acclaimed cuisine
of world-renowned "Chef to the Stars" Wolfgang Puck, [they]
provide a popular, affordable range of fresh, exciting,
quickly prepared-to-order foods that have made [its] namesake
famous." - www.wolfgangpuck.com

From Chinatown to the 1920's. Before we head out of DC, we
hop back onto the Metrorail at Chinatown's Red Line and arrive at Metro Center.
One block south is the historic Warner
Theatre, DC's leading performing arts venue. Since its rebirth in 1992, "the
'new' Warner [is] once again a destination, not only for revitalized downtown
Washington, but also for national and international recording artists and
the finest in theatrical, dance, and television presentations." - www.warnertheatre.com.
“Patrons love seeing our shows on our new marquee
signage. Visiting artists and producers enjoy not only
the publicity but also the class and dignity the marquee
provides.” - Barret Newman, Theatre Manager
