Due to GableSigns proximity to one
of Americas greatest port cities, we have given directions
below to three marinas within a short driving distance of
our facility. Stoney Creek and Margale marinas are located
in Stoney Creek (Anne Arundel County, Maryland) and Inner
Harbor Marina is located in the Baltimore Inner Harbor.
From the Atlantic Ocean, enter Chesapeake Bay between the
southern tip of Cape Charles and Northern tip of Norfolk.
Proceed north, passing the Potomac, Patuxent, Severn and Magothy
rivers to the east. Continue north, picking up the entrance
to the Patapsco River.
To locate Stoney Creek, proceed up river until you reach R"6"
in the Brewerton Channel. It lies just over a mile up river
from the junction of the Craighill Channel upper range and
the Brewerton Channel eastward extension. You can approach
it by following either of these two channels towards the Baltimore
Harbor. From "6", a course of 270 degrees M will
take you to N"2", 2.3 miles away off Stoney Creek.
From there, it is .7 miles to "5" and "6"
which mark the creeks entrance. Pick up "8"
and you will be safely in the creek.
The drawbridge is .8 miles above the creeks mouth, and
is 40 feet wide with an 18-foot clearance. It will open on
call except from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00
p.m. weekdays.
There are two marine facilities within a 10-minute drive of
GableSigns facility (call us and well pick you
up). Just past the drawbridge on the right is the Stoney Creek
Marina, providing repairs, groceries, fuel, water and ice.
The local telephone number is 410-255-5566. Just above the
bridge to the right is Nabbs Creek, which is home for the
Margale Marina (410-537-0402). Here you will find a docking
facility with similar services as noted above, excluding a
fueling facility.
To reach Baltimores Inner Harbor, stay on course up
the Patapsco River, 3 1/2 miles from its mouth at the Seven
Foot Knoll. Further upstream, you will pass under the Francis
Scott Key Bridge, and another 3 1/2 miles upstream the Patapsco
will divide right at Fort McHenry. The right hand branch
will take you into what the charts call "Northwest Harbor"
which terminates at the Baltimore Inner Harbor. There are
docking facilities at the Inner Harbor. The one with the floating
docks on the south shore is the Inner Harbor Marina (410-837-5339).
The City of Baltimore public docking on the west side has
fixed piers. Other facilities are nearby, made convenient
by Water Taxi (410-396-3174).
